Oh, Maulana Tariq Jameel…

181798972_640

Just a while ago, I was listening to a talk given by Mr.Tariq Jameel (revered by many) and found out some very interesting things. Let me begin by saying that his lectures are somewhat better than what is usually propagated by other clergymen. As you might be aware, I am not against scholars. Rather, I am of the opinion that before listening to anyone speaking about Islam, read the Quran for yourself. And I will demonstrate why:

I will add the reference, but the context of the video is that the angel of death had come to take Prophet Mohammad’s soul. In his exact words: “Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah. Till this day, I have never greeted anyone, you are the first.”

Now, when I heard this, immediately a verse came to mind:

Those whom the angels gather in death while they are in a state of inner purity, greeting them thus: “Peace be upon you! Enter paradise by virtue of what you were doing [in life]!” 16:32

Does it refer to the exclusivity of Mohammad? No, every noble human being is greeted by words and gestures of peace.

Furthermore, in another video, Mr. Tariq was talking about how every other Prophet except Mohammad (salutes and respect to him) would only be caring about himself on the Day of Judgement. Mr. Tariq Jameel described it like this: “ And the Prophets will say: Nafsee, Nafsee! Save me God, I do not intercede for anyone else on my behalf. But what would Mohammad do? He would be the lone person seeking forgiveness for his “Ummah.”

But, what would Prophet Mohammad actually say on the Day of Judgement?

And the Messenger will say, “O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’an as [a thing] abandoned.” 25:30

Here, we see, that he is in fact complaining about his people having totally abandoned the Quran. And this is the case with us today! We have no idea what the book says, only what so and so scholar told us about.

And, the concept of intercession by prophets is a lie. You can read about it here.

So it all boils down to two scenarios. Either Mr. Tariq Jameel is ignorant about these verses, or he is purposely misguiding his audience about Islam. Both ways, it doesn’t paint a very good picture of him. Do you see why I am against blind following? I skimmed through the comments on these videos, and not a single person had tried to rectify his mistake. All I could see was “Subhan Allah, Masha Allah, wow that is so true.” Why? No education about the Quran.

Personally speaking, having read the Quran, I have the luxury of knowing when a person is speaking from the Quran and when he is speaking out of his own desires and attributing it to Islam. Hence, I would heartily advise you to please familiarize yourself with what God has to say about first, then listen to other people’s opinion. Without a Furqan (criterion), how can you judge?

  1. I read this article a while ago and I wasn’t really reading the quran at the time and believed your cleverly put article for people who just don’t read. I was scared at the time from the passages you quoted.. Now I read the quran and the best info in your article and advice is for people not to listen to blind lying manipulative cowards like you. May allah swt throw you in hell fire for using ayahs that describe none believers ie the prophets uncle whom by the way is given the lowest punishment after the prophet muhammad pbuh INTERCEDES for him. The fact that several times you’ve refered to our prophet muhammad pbuh without pbuh. Is a sign of your manipulation. You are reading the quran blindly go and learn from scholars rather than give your interpretation of how amazing you think you are because you can read it in english im sure. If thats the case dont forget an english translation is not the quran but the best that islam can muster for the english speaking people. Ive checked the verses you’ve quoted everyone of them refers to none believers ive also checked how like the kaffirs your taking little bit here and little bits there to try and prove your argument. To everyone reading this read the quran find a teacher to learn the quran in arabic its our duty and do not listen to this person and verify things its deceivers like him that are here to manipulate YOU. Ps my apologies for being offensive to you but you did a bad thing and I gave a human response.. May allah swt guide you if he wills..

  2. Dear Ro! The Holy Quran was sent on our HolyProphet (P.B.U.H) and for his umma meaning the people after him so if the Quran says that the Angels will greet good people means that the people after him that will follow Prophet’s lifestyle and will act according to Quran.you only believe in Quran but to understand only a single verse is not as easy as it appears.so kindly if you want to explain anything regarding Quran then firstly read its tafseer and the whole meaning and then express it.and keep in mind that to blame others without knowing the truth is an immense sin you should’ve known that.as far as for the verse that you’ve mentioned it is for ua people

The best Tafseer of the Quran is by God himself (25:33)

The Verse above talks about angels greetings the souls when they are commanded to enter paradise. No one has entered paradise yet since the day of judgement hasnt commenced. Hence Prophet Muhammad(SAW) was the first to be greeted by the angel of death, here on planet Earth.

    2. And the Messenger will say, “O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’an as [a thing] abandoned.” 25:30
The Propeht Muhammad(SAW) will say a lot of things on the day of the judgement but even before it commences, Allah will call the Hell and Heaven to come closer to where the people are standing. The scream from Hell will bring everyone into a state where they will be saying ‘nafsee!nafsee'(save me!save me!). Prophet Muhammad(SAW) will be the only one who says ‘Ummati!Ummati’ (save my ummat! save my ummat!).

    • Not when they are commanded to enter paradise, Asif. It says “at the time of death”.

In the Quran, the messenger is complaining about his “Ummat”. In the hadith, he’s asking God to “forgive” his Ummat. What’s the point of judgment, if God is going to be impartial in justice? What you do is what you get.

    • No ad-hominem tactics, please. Yes, I do know a bit of Arabic. But it doesn’t take a genius to figure out when someone is speaking from the Quran, or against it.

  4. Look at Egypt now, with their many great Islamic scholars and the great Al-Azhar. Do you think The Almighty just does not listen to them anymore? Allah has said in the Quran, His hell shall be full of scholars and ulamas.

  9. Maybe there is more to the Quran that he knows about and was referring to. After all, he has studied it inside out. How many years have you studied it formally? Do you even know the basics of Sarf?

    • Peace be upon you, Talib. Well, clearly he either overlooked the two verses I outlined above, or he placed a higher emphasis on secondary sources instead of the primary source (Quran). You see, since I am not asking you to follow me, I do not have to show my credentials to you. Verify it for yourself. I did give references to both verses.

Brother, how one dresses is not an indicator whether a person is truly speaking from the Quran or not. We need to self-study the book for ourselves, as we are only accountable for our own souls. If we blindly follow someone, will we able to provide a justification for why we went against the Quran?

As a matter of fact, this is what is going to happen on the day of judgement:
They will be, all of them, marshaled before God. Then the ones who had disabled their minds with blind following will say to their self-glorified leaders, “We used to follow you. Can you divert from us some of God’s doom?” The leaders will respond, “If God had guided us, we would have guided you. Now it makes no difference whether we panic in grief or try to bear it in patience, there is no escape for us.” 14:21
